Capital Market 2.0 Course: The CoopBank Way

Course Description:
The main objectives of this training is to enlighten trainees with the operational and technical aspects of financial markets in general with due emphasis to the operations and legal aspects of capital markets in particular. It is designed with an objective of enabling trainees to acquaint themselves with the analysis and valuation of various capital market instruments along with the way how to trade them in the exchange market with full understanding of all the main actors and participants constituting the stock exchange.
Course Objectives:

1. Determine the role of the money market along with the main instruments’ peculiar to that market

2. Explain how capital markets operate

3. Describe the nature and valuation of various types of fixed income instruments

4. Determine how to value equity instruments both at the initial offering and in the subsequent trading

5. Discuss each type of derivative market instruments along with the purpose of having such contract in the business operations

6. Discuss and explain the legal framework of Ethiopian stock exchange market in line with the various provisions of Proclamation No. 1248/2021 & the various directives issued pursuant to the proclamation.

Participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion upon successfully passing the course assessment. To qualify:

  • You must complete all course modules.
  • You must achieve a minimum passing score on the final exam.
  • The certificate confirms that the participant has acquired foundational knowledge and understanding of capital market 2.0: The coopbank Way concepts, instruments, and market functions.
